2009 Huge List of Video Sharing Websites - UPDATED
One of the top viewed pages on ReelSEO is that of a post that I put out late in 2007 with a resource list of 180 video sharing (now replaced by this post). This weekend, I finally took the time to update the list entirely, and add a bunch more - 338 in total. So, after many hours of clean up, I am pleased to present a brand new, list of 338 video sharing websites below. I encourage you to bookmark this post as I’ll be updating it every now and then.

Most companies producing online video content aren’t giving enough consideration to the end user’s experience with the video they’re watching. Despite the huge business growth of online video, not a single major usability organization or video solutions provider has put out any publicly available ‘best practices’ information on the web video experience for the end user!

Video Trademark Copycats on YouTube – Legal or Illegal?
There is a growing trend of online video companies that are featuring derivatives of the YouTube logo for their own brand;. Perhaps this is done to imply to customers and prospects of a special business affiliation the company has with YouTube, and also an implied advantage in the search results for their video content. Is this an acceptable use of the YouTube trademark – a business practice that’s savvy and effective? Or, its it unfair, and perhaps illegal? We interview two intellectual property attorneys for their take on these issues.
Interview with John Love of SpotMixer - Online Video for SMBs
Back in November, we had the pleasure of being the media sponsor for the Kelsey Group’s ILM:08 (Interactive Local Media) conference. At the conference, we were able to catch up with several online video marketing platforms and online video production services for small and medium sized businesses including Turnhere, MediaMobz, Jivox, Mixpo, WellcomeMat, and several others. One such service is that of OneTrueMedia’s Spotmixer. Originally launched in 2005 as an online consumer video editing platform, SpotMixer was relaunched in May of 2008 to focus on self-service video ad creation for SMBs.
New 2009 Marketing With Video Report - Online, TV & Mobile Video Marketing
Every once in a while, I come across a paid whitepaper or research report that I think is important enough to share with readers. With that in mind, last week I learned about a newly released report about marketing with video that is, by far, the most comprehensive and definitive guide that I have read to-date when it pertains to video advertising and video marketing.
MarketingSherpa, a well-known and highly respected resource for research related to marketing efforts, just released their first-ever report that is focused on the fast-growing landscape of video marketing, titled, “Marketing With Video Report: Online, TV & Mobile.” I cannot even begin to tell you how impressed I am with this report. In all honesty, I found myself overcome with feelings of envy and admiration when reading this report. I wish I had written it myself, all 400 or so pages ;-)

What’s New at Veoh - New Veoh.com Beta Version Launched
Veoh’s got a new version including a website redesign, and some new features. They’ve re-categorized the content into more than 100 categories to make it easier for you to find what you want. They also allow you to browse for other videos while watching something. Though I’m not sure what that accomplishes since you could easily do that with two browser windows as well. I guess it lets you do it in one interface and window which is a little cleaner. The player now has three sizes, small, theater for a larger experience and full-screen.
Reel Success with Video Thumbails in Google Universal Search
UPDATE - So, looks like Google is still playing with letting other sites show thumbnails in the SERPS. They have recently removed these thumbnails from appearing in an organic search. More to come on this as it appears they are being filtered for in google with the duplicate content filter for some reason.
We’ve posted lots in the past about Google’s universal search initiative and the promise that it has for website video SEO. We’ve also posted in the past about the fact that although Youtube video thumbnails are dominant throughout the universal search results pages, other video sites are successfully showing thumbnails in the SERPs as well including Metacafe, Videojug, Ted.com, 5min.com, and others. We have even tested our own video thumbnails in Google previously to see that they do appear in Google’s SERP pages, but we had not seen them appear yet in the Universal one-box results.
I am pleased to tell you that it is possible, if done properly - and We did it with our little site ;-)
