WORDPRESS OUTPUT
WordPress can publish the same idea through pages, archives, templates, and plugins.
A custom post type can represent a real entity such as a product, location or course. It can also exist only because a plugin needed somewhere to store data. Categories, tags, author archives, date archives and filtered listings face the same test: does this route perform a distinct reader job, or expose an implementation convenience as a landing page?
The SEO strategy decides which routes deserve public ownership based on demand, intent, business value and the site's ability to maintain them. That decision should come before a plugin is told to index every archive or a template is tuned for pages the site never needed.
One SEO signal can have several competing owners.
A theme can print a title or schema graph while an SEO plugin prints another. A redirect plugin can conflict with server rules. WordPress can report one canonical in the editor while a cache serves an older value. The admin screen records an intended setting; it does not prove what the public URL returns.
The useful repair assigns one owner to each output. Decide which layer owns titles, canonicals, robots directives, sitemap entries, redirects and structured data. Remove the competing producer, clear the relevant cache and inspect the HTTP response and rendered page on the canonical hostname.
Template work should create editorial control where the page needs it.
Some values belong to every item in a content type: the surrounding navigation, the order of common fields or a stable relationship to the parent archive. Others must remain page-specific: the main answer, evidence, title and internal links that define the page's job. Hard-coding the second group into a template produces repeated pages; moving every shared decision into manual fields creates drift.
Technical SEO follows the decision through PHP templates, hooks, plugins, rewrite rules, cache and hosting until the public response matches it. Representative posts, archives, pagination, missing content and redirect cases are checked after release because a clean homepage does not verify a content type.
A WordPress site also changes through editorial work, plugin updates and theme releases. An SEO retainer makes sense when those changes keep altering public routes or reopening ownership decisions. A finite template repair does not need to be stretched into a permanent monthly package.
